Behind the Scenes:
Aaron Elterman - Director
Aaron
found his way into television production through the darkrooms in the
journalism department at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. After
dallying in video on his own and subjecting his family to
excruciatingly painful 2 hr home video documentaries about his closest
friends, he volunteered at a PBS pledge drive. A producer at the time
encouraged him to enroll in the video production class she was teaching
at UAF and applying for student assistant jobs at KUAC as they
presented themselves. After graduating from UAF in 2002 he applied for
a full time job at KUAC.
Aaron's only regret about the filming of Anywhere, Alaska is the
boating accident in Petersburg that resulted in the senseless drowning
of his dedicated and close friend DVX100A. May Panasonic rebuild her to
her previous and glorious state at no charge to us.
Aaron enjoyed traveling the state with Heather and Chip and
still insists the shoots were grueling and draining, even though the
stories from the road at times sound picturesque. He says nothing makes
you appreciate the state of Alaska like being asked to explore it with
a camera, good people, and a vintage motor home of questionable
integrity. (Thanks for letting me borrow the motor home Pop)
